1. Division I Schedule & Site - If the district tournament has determined a champion and runner-up, the region baseball tournament will take place May 10-11, 2024, and will be hosted by the even-numbered district champion. For the region semi-finals, it shall be the responsibility of the host school to set the time of the games. It is the responsibility of the host school to notify the visiting teams of the game times and game site. For all games, the higher seeded team shall have the choice of being home or visitor. If two teams are the same seed, then a coin flip will be used to determine who will receive the choice of being home or visitor. If the established starting time of a region contest between two schools conflicts with the previously scheduled Commencement Exercises of one of the schools, and that school has Senior roster player(s), then at the request of the affected school, the contest will be rescheduled for a mutually agreed upon time and site that falls within the playoff timeline established by the TSSAA. In the event the two schools do not agree on a rescheduled time and site, the TSSAA Office will designate a starting game time and site.

  1. Division II Dates / Times - The Division II Class A Regions must be completed by May 8. In Division II Class AA, TSSAA does not mandate that the region tournament, if played, be completed by a certain date prior to the First Round and Quarterfinal Round. However, the following dates should be taken into account when scheduling regional tournament games. The Division II Class AA First Round Series shall take place May 10-11. The Division II Class AA Quarterfinal Series shall take place May 17-18. For the Division II Class AA Quarterfinal Series, schools can mutually agree to play earlier, however, the games cannot be played any earlier than Wednesday, May 15.   2. Location of Division II Region Tournament Sites - Schools within each region shall select the sites and times of the region tournament. In selecting the site of the region tournament, consideration should be given to the facility that is in the best interest of the schools involved, the participants, and spectators. Adequate baseball facilities may include but are not limited to:
    1. Ability to charge admission.
    2. Availability of a tarp.
    3. Availability of lights.
  3. Suspended Games / Run Rule - Suspended games during the tournament are to be picked up from the point of suspension, at the next opportunity to play, unless 4 ½ innings have been completed with the home team leading. Tournament games do not have to go the full 7 innings. The 10 run rule is mandatory.
  4. Officials - In region tournament play, game officials will be provided by the local association that services the host school. The Game Director shall contact the Assigning Officer of the association and confirm the date, time, and site of each game. Fees for the umpires shall be $85 per game, plus 30¢ per mile round trip per umpire. There will be three-person crews assigned.
  5. Game Director - The principal of the host school shall be the Game Director. If additional facilities are secured other than those of the host team, the Game Director must be approved by the TSSAA state office. It shall be the duty of the Game Director to handle all financial arrangements for the game and to make financial reports to the participating teams. Additional responsibilities include:
    1. Arrange for scorekeeper, ball boys, ticket sellers and takers.
    2. Make arrangements for concessions. Profits from the concessions will go to the host school or to those appointed by the host school to handle them.
    3. Purchase baseballs. The cost of these balls shall be part of the game expenses. The unused balls should be divided between the participating teams after the game is completed.
  6. Division I Financial Arrangements / Reporting - Concession revenue shall go to the host school unless otherwise agreed upon by the administration of schools in the region. All expenses in the region tournament must be approved by a majority vote of the schools in the region prior to the beginning of the tournament. If a tournament administration fee is to be paid, the amount must be approved by a majority vote of the schools in the region prior to the beginning of the tournament and shall not exceed $25.00 per game. TSSAA shall receive 18% of the gross gate receipts. Postseason financial forms must now be completed through the TSSAA Portal. All checks for district, regional, and sectional tournaments and playoffs must be distributed within 10 business days of the completion of the tournament or game. Failure to do so will result in a $100.00 late fee to be paid to TSSAA and is to be used in the A.F. Bridges sportsmanship program to go to schools or students receiving awards. Failure to distribute funds within 20 business days will result in an additional $200 late fee (total $300.00). Failure to distribute funds within 40 business days will result in an additional $200.00 late fee (total $500.00). The school may not host any tournament or playoff until the principal or athletic director appears before the Board of Control to explain their reasons for not distributing the checks within the required time frame. The Board would then determine whether the school can host tournaments or playoffs in the future. It shall be the duty of the principal or his/her designee to handle all financial arrangements for the game and make a financial report to the state office.

  8. Tickets / Price of Admission - Ticket prices for the tournament should be agreed upon by the schools. They are not set by TSSAA. The host schools are encouraged to use GoFan to sell advance tickets, but the games need to be set up on GoFan by the host schools through GoFan HQ. Otherwise, arrangements for tickets should be made by the host schools.
  9. Tournament Passes - Agree on passes that will be accepted at the gate. TSSAA ID cards are allowed to be accepted as passes and admit one person only. The card holder MUST be in possession of the physical card. Photos of TSSAA ID cards cannot be accepted. The Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (TACA) card will provide complimentary admittance for one person per card. Players in uniform from each team, plus coaches and bat boys shall be admitted free of charge. In addition, working press and media shall be admitted free of charge.
  10. Tournament Rosters - A team may dress an unlimited number of players on the roster for region tournament play. Coaches should have their line-up written out and ready to give to the scorekeeper and the umpire when going over the ground rules.
  11. Awards - TSSAA provides a region champion and runner-up plaque. For Division I, the plaques will be sent to the Tournament Director/District Coordinator of the even district as it is their turn to host the region tournament. For Division II, the plaques will be sent to the Region Tournament Director/Coordinator, as appointed by the schools within the region.
  12. Video / Videostream / Radio - Video taping or filming is permitted as long as the taping or filming is for private use or use by the two schools involved and not for public or commercial use. Video taping or filming must be done from the individual's seat. Individuals will not be allowed to use tripods. A school taping or filming its own game may use a tripod. A school will not be allowed to tape or film a game unless its team is involved in the game. All taping or filming by a school may be approved by the local Game Director, and the Game Director shall assign space, when available, from which to tape or film. Any media entity or school wishing to videostream or tape delay any part of the region tournament must get permission from the tournament director. If such permission is granted, a minimum fee of $250 (tape delay) or $500 (live telecast/videostream) is required. The fee will be paid to the game director and shall be included as part of the gate receipts.
  13. Submitting Division I Results & Sectional Information - Please email scores after the completion of each tournament game to: tssaa@tssaa.org. In addition, sectional series hosts please submit the site and times of your games to tssaa@tssaa.org as soon as possible.
  14. Submitting Division II Results & First Round Game Information - Upon completion of the region tournament, please email your results to: tssaa@tssaa.org. In addition, first round and quarterfinal game hosts please submit the site and times of your game(s) to: tssaa@tssaa.org as soon as possible.
