The April 14 Legislative Council meeting will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Mt. Juliet (1980 Providence Parkway, Mt. Juliet). The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Highlighting the "Old Business" section is a request for clarification on a new rule allowing coaches in various sports—including football, basketball, and soccer—to coach their own children during the preseason and offseason, provided no other students from their school are present. Additionally, the Council will revisit a tabled proposal from Arlington High School that seeks to eliminate specific NFHS coaching and first aid course requirements for classified employees.

The Council will consider a change to the definition for "athletic record" to better manage transfer inquiries, alongside recommended revisions to both the Transfer and Recruiting Rules. Other notable items include a proposal from Cleveland High School to create a tiered disqualification structure for ejections and a recommendation from the TSSAA staff to establish strict deadlines for new schools joining the association to prevent scheduling and seeding complications.

The Council will discuss clarifying the Amateur Rule to ensure NIL compensation is not tied to a student’s participation at a specific school. They also intend to review how summer activities impact transfer eligibility and compare Tennessee's period of ineligibility for transfer students with other states to determine if further changes should be proposed during the Fall 2026 Regional Meetings.
