NASHVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) is excited to announce the launch of the TSSAA Student Advisory Committee this spring. The committee will serve as a vital platform for student-athletes to share their voices, offer input on issues affecting their peers, and contribute to key initiatives within the organization.
The TSSAA Student Advisory Committee will consist of 20 total members, with six members selected from each of the three regions of the state—East, Middle, and West Tennessee. These students will act as ambassadors for their fellow peers and for the TSSAA, representing a diverse group of young athletes from schools across Tennessee.
Key Purposes of the TSSAA Student Advisory Committee Include:
- Addressing current issues facing student-athletes and gathering feedback on the challenges they encounter.
- Providing valuable input on rules and regulations that impact student-athletes’ experiences.
- Contributing to TSSAA special initiatives aimed at improving the athletic environment for all.
- Promoting a positive image of student-athletes and the supporting student body.
“The creation of the Student Advisory Committee is a significant step in ensuring that the perspectives of student-athletes are integral to the decisions made within TSSAA governance,” said Mark Reeves, Executive Director of TSSAA. “This committee will help bridge the gap between student-athletes and leadership, fostering an environment where student achievements are celebrated and valued in shaping the future of high school athletics in Tennessee.”
Applications for the TSSAA Student Advisory Committee will open on March 1st, with the application available for download on the official TSSAA website. The application window will remain open until April 1st with the intentions of the committee members being selected by May 1st.
