Starting with the 2026-27 official's registration process, officials will be required to complete the Part 1 exam for their registered sport(s) prior to becoming eligible to officiate regular season contests. Officials will have five (5) attempts to pass the Part 1 Exam. In addition, officials are required to complete the Part 2 exam for their registered sport(s) prior to becoming eligible to officiate district, region, sectional/first round/quarterfinal contests, and to be recommended to officiate at the state tournament. All officials are encouraged to take the Part 2 exam to further their education in their sport(s).
The Part 1 and Part 2 exams will be completed using the NFHS Test through the Arbiter platform.

Following are the instructions for completing the exam(s):
- Go to arbitersports.io.
- Click on Login in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
- Click on "For Officials and Event Workers".
- Log in using your the Email and Password associated with your Arbiter account.
- Click on TSSAA Official.
- Click on the Eligibility tab.
- Click on your Sport.
- Click on View Details.
- Click on Take Test and the tab will appear to start the test.
