Megan Vasquez
White Pine School’s eighth-grader Megan Vazquez has been recognized with the NFHS Student-Athlete Award of Excellence, a prestigious honor presented by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). This award celebrates Megan's outstanding display of sportsmanship as a captain of the school’s cheer team and her contributions to fostering respect and camaraderie in school-based athletics.
Megan regularly goes out of her way to ensure visiting teams feel welcome at White Pine School, often stepping up to assist wherever needed. Her respectful demeanor, polite communication, and inclusive leadership on and off the cheer team have left a positive impact not only on her teammates but also on the broader school community. Beyond athletics, Megan is a role model as Student Council President, a member of the Beta Club, and a dedicated student who maintains an A-B honor roll.
Staff and peers both appreciate Megan's ability to lead by example, inspiring others to strive for excellence while fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect. Her ability to balance academics, athletics, and leadership roles shows the importance of character and dedication in school-based sports.
Megan’s recognition highlights the vital role that sportsmanship plays in educational athletics. By treating others with respect and creating a welcoming environment, student-athletes like Megan contribute to a positive culture that goes beyond competition. Let’s celebrate Megan’s achievement and be inspired to follow her lead.
