With the first two weeks of high school football behind us, here's a preview of the Week 3 schedule. A total of 178 games are set to be played this week.
After a slow start for regional matchups, Week 3 will see a significant increase, with 76 games featuring regional opponents. Three teams will compete against non-TSSAA opponents, and 10 teams will be on their bye week.
Historical Notes
Montgomery Bell Academy at Memphis University: These two teams have faced each other a total of eight times in the playoffs, once being the championship. The last time was in 2020 when MUS defeated MBA 49-42 in the semifinals. The last three regular season meetings have been decided by a score less than five points each game.
Dyersburg at Covington: Since 2021, the home team has taken the victory.
Houston High at Germantown: Since 2021, the away team has taken the victory. Furthermore, the score of the 2023 matchup was decided by just one point, a 14-13 Germantown victory.
Hickman at Summertown: The last two times these teams have faced each other, in 2023 and 2018, the score of the game has been 28-14 each time. Summertown won in 2018 and Hickman won in 2023.
Brentwood Academy at Christian Brothers: These two teams have faced each other three times in the playoff semifinals. The last one was in 2005.
Independence at Centennial: Independence defeated Centennial in the 2015 playoff semifinals, 56-15.
Volunteer High at Sullivan East: This a regional matchup. Since 2020, the away team has secured the victory.
