- The Board voted to give the state office staff permission to conduct the draw for the State Wrestling Tournament.
- Heard Review of the 2017 Regional Meetings
- Heard Review of 2017 Fall Sports state tournament events in golf, volleyball, girls’ soccer, cross country, and cheer/dance championships.
- The staff updated the Board on Regional Basketball Sites for 2017-2018
- Approved TSSAA Membership Contracts for 2017-2018
- All schools have paid membership dues for the 2017-18 school year so no action was taken regarding allowing schools to participate in postseason competition until any outstanding fines or membership dues are paid.
- Heard update from TSSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee
- Heard update regarding the TMSAA Cross Country Championships that were held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Clarksville, TN.
- Approved TMSAA Basketball ChampionshipsThe Board approved the staff’s recommendation to begin hosting a TMSAA state basketball championship. These championships will begin in February of 2019. It will be a final four concept and will take place on a Friday night and Saturday. The plan is to use a High School and Middle School in Middle Tennessee, preferably held on the same campus.
- Approved request of The Cohn Learning Center for TSSAA Membership.The Cohn Learning Center is a public school in Davidson County under the jurisdiction of the Metro Nashville Public School System. They are a 9-12 school with a current enrollment of 80 students. Their request is to join immediately and seek a cooperative agreement with John Overton High School. They do not plan to offer any sports at their school.
- Approved request of Valor Collegiate Academy for TSSAA Membership.Valor Collegiate School is a charter school opening in Nashville under the Metro Nashville Board of Education. Their anticipated enrollment is approximately 220 ninth graders. Plans are to add a grade each year. They plan to offer basketball, cross country, volleyball, and soccer at the JV level only next year. They will be placed in Division I, Class A, District 7 in basketball, District 9 in soccer, Region 5 (Small) in cross country, and District 8 in girls’ volleyball.
