Week 1 of the high school football season is officially underway in Tennessee, with more than 180 games on the schedule. This week, no games will feature region opponents, but 20 matchups are set to take place on Thursday or Saturday. Additionally, over 70 games will be streamed live on the NFHS Network, allowing fans to follow the action from home.

Historical Notes
Sycamore at Kirkwood: These teams are facing each other for the second time since 2015. Last year, Kirkwood took the victory by just one point, 49-48.
Creekwood at Dickson County: These in-county rivals have faced each other the first week of high school football since 2015. The last two years, the road team has taken the victory, each by less than 20 points.
KIPP Memphis Collegiate School at Innovation Academy: First time these schools have ever faced each other. This is only the second season for the Innovation Academy football team.
Franklin County at Coffee County: The road team has won the last three meetings between these squads. The last time the home team won was in 2020, when Coffee County claimed a 21-19 victory.
Warren County at Dekalb: The home team has won the last two meetings in this series. Four of the six meetings were decided by seven or fewer points.
McMinn County at Bradley Central: Since 2019, the winning team of this matchup has scored at least forty points.
Elizabethton at Science Hill: The road team has won the last three meetings between these squads. The last time the home team won was in 2020, when Elizabethton claimed a 30-8 victory.
Oak Ridge at Jefferson County: Jefferson Co. won 26-7 in the 1996 playoff semifinals. These teams have only played once since 2015.
South Pittsburg at Oliver Springs: South Pittsburg won 31-6 in the 2023 playoff semifinals. These teams have only played once since 2015.
Davidson Academy at Nashville Christian: Davidson Academy won 48-21 in the 2018 playoff semifinals and 33-14 in the 2020 playoff semifinals. The final score of the last two games has been less than a ten-point difference.
Columbia Academy at MTCS: MTCS won 35-27 in the 2023 playoff semifinals. The last regular season game, in 2023, was a two-point difference, 33-31.
Knoxville Webb at BGA: BGA won 19-7 in the 1997 state championship. Knoxville Webb won 38-21 in the 2014 state championship.
