NASHVILLE- - -The winner of the Division II Class A Mr. Basketball Award was announced at the conclusion of the championship game today at Allen Arena. Your 2015 Division II Class A Mr. Basketball Award winner is Justin Wertner of St. George's Independent School. The other two finalists were Kenny Cooper from Franklin Road Academy and Dakota Quinn from Davidson Academy. Wertner is a 6’4”, senior guard for the Gryphons. He is a three year starter who averages 18.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. He shoots 44% from the field, 38% from three-point range, and 91% from the free throw line. Justin has over 1,000 career points and holds school records for most three-point field goals and best free throw percentage. Last season he was named to the All-State team, Commercial Appeal “Best of the Preps” selection, and District Player of the Year. He was also a finalist for the 2014 Mr. Basketball Award.
