MURFREESBORO- - -The winner of the Division I Class AA Miss Basketball Award was announced at the conclusion of the championship game today at Murphy Center. Your 2015 Division I Class AA Miss Basketball Award winner is Kayla Marosites of Elizabethton High School. The other two finalists were Callie Hackett from Smith County High School and Anna Hammaker from Christian Academy of Knoxville. Marosites is a 5’10”, junior guard for the Fighting Cyclones. She is a three year starter who averages 21.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.3 steals per game. She shoots 54.8% from the field, 45.2% from three-point range, and 86.4% from the free throw line. This season, both Kayla and her twin sister Kelci both surpassed the 1,000 career point mark. She has been both an All-District and All-Region selection as a freshman and sophomore. She was a member of the all-tournament team at the state tournament as a freshman and was MVP last season as a sophomore.
