MURFREESBORO- - -The winner of the Class A Mr. Basketball Award was announced at the conclusion of the championship game today at Murphy Center. Desonta Bradford from Humboldt High School was named Mr. Basketball in Class A for 2014. The other two finalists were Derrick Spears from Middle Tennessee Christian School and Levi Woods of Meigs County High School. Bradford is a 6’4”, senior, guard. He is a four-year starter for the Vikings who averages 21.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. He shoots 52% from the field, 37% from three-point range, and 74% from the free-throw line. He was the MVP of both the District and Region tournaments last year. Desonta was named to the All-Tournament team at the state tournament last year and was named to the All-State team as a junior as well. He has scored over 1,500 points and has over 500 rebounds and 500 assists in his career at Humboldt.
