Josh Amos
Eighth-grader Josh Amos of Tennessee Middle School has been honored with the prestigious NFHS Student-Athlete Award of Excellence, presented by the TSSAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations, for his outstanding display of sportsmanship and leadership in school athletics.
Josh, who participates in both football and wrestling, serves as a role model for his teammates and peers. Whether on the field or the wrestling mat, he competes with pride for his school while maintaining respect for his opponents, regardless of the outcome. Coaches describe him as a "pillar of excellence," citing his dedication, hard work, and positive attitude as qualities that set him apart.
Beyond his own efforts during games and matches, Josh actively supports his teammates, whether by offering encouragement, rallying them during tough moments, or taking extra time to mentor younger players. His actions extend beyond the confines of sports, as his peer leadership has influenced others throughout the school to follow his example of kindness, patience, and diligence.
Josh’s involvement doesn't stop with athletics. Outside of sports, he participates in the BETA Club, is active in his church, and enjoys supporting the Tennessee Volunteers. By excelling in the classroom, on the field, and in his community, Josh exemplifies the well-rounded qualities of an ideal student-athlete.
Tennessee Middle School, and the broader community, can take pride in Josh’s accomplishments. His actions demonstrate that sports are not just about physical skill, but also about character. His example serves as an important reminder for others to approach competition with integrity and to use their influence to uplift those around them.
