The TSSAA Board of Control will meet at the at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mt. Juliet (1975 Providence Parkway, Mount Juliet, TN 37122) on Monday, August 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Following directives from the June meeting, staff will present survey results and a revised calendar regarding a potential shift to the Division I basketball district tournament’s third-and-fourth-place games. The board will also review administrative feedback on the Spring Fling format and discuss research into how other state associations handle student-athlete participation in national events and summer teams that occur outside the traditional TSSAA season.
Classification will be discussed, with the board set to review 2025-26 enrollment data collected through the state’s TISA funding formula. The board will vote on several immediate cooperative program exceptions for schools that have recently offered their own programs. These include requests for football between Mt. Juliet Christian Academy and RePublic High School, as well as girls soccer and basketball co-ops involving Obion County Central, South Fulton, Grainger, and Washburn high schools.
The meeting will also address individual eligibility and new membership applications. Valor Collegiate is seeking an exception to the Independent Game Participation Rule for a girls soccer player invited to represent her home country in the U19 Pan American Cup this October. Additionally, two schools—Ridgeview High School in Lenoir City and Tennessee Nature Academy in Nashville—are applying for membership.
