GameChanger by DICK’S Sporting Goods named the preferred pitch count reporting tool for Tennessee high school baseball and softball

PITTSBURGH (May 10, 2018) DICK’S Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) today announced GameChanger, the leading digital scorekeeping and team management app for baseball and softball teams, has been named the preferred pitch count reporting tool for the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA), the governing body of high school athletics in Tennessee. The free app, recently named the exclusive baseball and softball app partner of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), offers custom pitch count alerts and inning-by-inning pitch count recaps that make it easy for coaches to monitor and protect their pitchers’ health. In 2017, TSSAA implemented rules that establish the maximum number of pitches that can be thrown by pitchers within a set number of days. GameChanger will automatically send comprehensive daily pitch count reports to TSSAA for seamless, statewide pitch count reporting for coaches and TSSAA. In addition to monitoring pitch counts, GameChanger provides coaches with access to over 150 statistics, instant spray charts, and a full suite of team management features, including game and practice scheduling and a player attendance tracker. “At GameChanger, we are proud to provide TSSAA and high school coaches in Tennessee with the tools to help keep pitchers safe,” said Ted Sullivan, founder and CEO of GameChanger. “We believe the use of this technology can enhance the youth sports experience while reducing the number of arm injuries players encounter.” GameChanger also works in conjunction with MaxPreps, a website for high school athletics news, stats and recruiting, to sync game data and pitch counts instantly between both platforms. While the coaches are scoring the games, GameChanger generates a live GameStream so family and friends can watch the games in real-time, even if they are unable to make it to the field. Since its launch in 2009, more than 13 million games have been scored using GameChanger. “We have a responsibility to protect young players and GameChanger helps with accountability,” said Bernard Childress, Executive Director of TSSAA. “This app simplifies our pitch count reporting process for coaches and reinforces our commitment to player safety.” This partnership adds to GameChanger’s ongoing efforts to improve safety in youth baseball. This year, GameChanger was appointed the official pitch count reporting tool by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and was named the preferred pitch count app by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association to help improve the safety of youth baseball players in their states. Last year, GameChanger became the official pitch count reporting solutions for all high school baseball teams in Virginia and Colorado. In 2015, GameChanger partnered with MLB and USA Baseball to become the first Pitch Smart certified tool to track player pitch counts. To learn more about GameChanger, please visit www.gc.com.
