MURFREESBORO - - -The winner of the Class AA Miss Basketball Award was announced at the conclusion of the championship game today at Murphy Center.
Abbey Sissom from Cannon County was named Miss Basketball for 2014. The other two finalists were Rachel Bell from Creek Wood High School and Allison Hodge of Grainger High School.
Sissom is a 5’9”, senior, guard. She is a four-year starter for the Lions who averages 24.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. She shoots 42% from the field, 40% from three-point range, and 89.3% from the free-throw line. She has been named to the All-District team four times and District 8-AA MVP twice. Abbey has been named to the Region 4-AA and the state tournament all-tournament teams twice. This is her third consecutive year to be named a finalist for the Miss Basketball Award. She has scored over 2,500 points in her career at Cannon County.
