The TSSAA Legislative Council met in Mt. Juliet on Thursday, December 12 and approved numerous changes to the TSSAA Bylaws.
A proposed change to regarding classification that was submitted by Christ Presbyterian Academy was tabled until the April meeting to allow CPA to bring back revised wording of the proposal. The proposal would require the rules for determining classification within each division shall apply equally to all classifications within each division and aligned to each sport.
A proposal submitted by St. Andrews-Sewanee to allow students transferring for academic reasons to retain their varsity eligibility, provided the previous school administration confirms the transfer was for educational reasons and was unrelated to athletics was tabled.
McCallie and Baylor each submitted separate proposals to change Article II (Eligibility) of the TSSAA Bylaws. Both proposals were tabled by the Legislative Council until a special called meeting that is tentatively set for February 4.
Trinity Christian Academy submitted a proposal to make district-level Athletic Directors from a school system that makes up no more than twenty-five percent of the total member high schools represented in their athletic district eligible to serve on the Board or Council. This proposal was approved.
