The TSSAA Legislative Council met on Monday, March 3 at the TSSAA office building in Hermitage to discuss potential changes to the Transfer Rule and Residence Rule.

An addition to Article II, Section 13 regarding Eligible Transfer Students was approved by the Council. The addition states the following:

The first time the student transfers to another school due to a significant academic, social-emotional, environmental or mental health need. The sending school’s administration must attest that the move is not for athletic or disciplinary reasons.

The following change was made to the Residence Rule:

No athletic eligibility for an international student who has completed the secondary school requirements in his/her country of origin.

The Council discussed other possible options, but tabled any further action on the residency rule until the April meeting.
