The TSSAA Board of Control will meet on Wednesday, November 10 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Murfreesboro. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The Board will be given an update on the recent fall sport tournaments events in golf, volleyball, girls’ soccer, and cross country.
During the June meeting, the Board discussed whether or not to satellite all District/Region basketball games with the higher seed as host, which was done last year primarily due to the pandemic. The item was requested to be placed on the August agenda for a vote. This item was tabled during the August meeting until the November meeting.
Arlington High School is set to appeal sanctions that were imposed towards the end of last basketball season and Oakhaven High School will be appealing recent sanctions that occurred during the current football season.
The Board is set to review a proposal submitted by Bartlett High School and the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association which recommends a change in the Regional and Sectional baseball and softball tournaments this season.
Two schools have submitted proposals requesting membership in the association.
Providence Academy in Johnson City is requesting membership in the organization beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. Their estimated enrollment next year is 180 students in grades 9-12. If approved, they will be placed in DII, Class A, East, District 1 in basketball, baseball, girls’ volleyball, tennis, track and field, girls’ soccer, soccer, cross country, and golf.
Medical District High School in Memphis is requesting membership in the association as well. The school currently has 78 ninth graders and they plan to add a grade each year. They are under the Shelby County Board of Education. If approved, they plan to request a cooperative agreement with Manassas High School in all sanctioned sports.
The Board will also hear a total of seven hardship appeals at the meeting.
