The TSSAA Board of Control met in Hermitage on Thursday, January 16.

Contracts and agreements for multiple fall sport championships were discussed and voted on by the Board.

Efforts are underway to extend the existing contracts with Chattanooga to host girls' soccer and football. An agreement has been signed for the 2025 Cheer and Dance competition with Knoxville. The proposal from Sevierville to host the 2025 and 2026 state golf tournaments was approved. Murfreesboro’s proposal to host the 2025 and 2026 state volleyball tournaments was approved. The Board voted to award the cross country bid to Memphis for 2025-2026 with a formal commitment to rotate to the Middle or East in 2027-2028, assuming the logistical and financial terms are comparable.

The Board heard an update regarding the Student Services program and the newly developed Student Advisory Committee. The new committee will consist of a diverse group of students and student-athletes from member schools throughout the state. This team will act as ambassadors for their peers and the TSSAA while gaining insights into the sports industry through various committee activities. The committee will ensure that student perspectives are represented in TSSAA governance, focusing on key areas such as current issues affecting student-athletes, feedback on rules and regulations, contributions to TSSAA special initiatives, and the promotion of a positive image of student-athletes.

Financial reports for golf, volleyball, girls' soccer, cross country, cheer and dance, and the football playoffs were discussed by the Board.

Three different schools requested exceptions to the co-op rule. The request from J. Frank White Academy to form a baseball co-op with Cumberland Gap High School for the 2024-2025 school year was approved. The Board approved a request from Independence Academy to form a girls’ soccer co-op with Glencliff High School for the 2025-26 school year, pending that Glencliff would accept the stipulation that they would be ineligible for the postseason. Hillsboro High School's request to host more than one school in a lacrosse co-op for one year was approved.

Appeals submitted by Blackman, Manassas, and Kirby High Schools regarding disciplinary action imposed as a result of incidents during athletic contests were all denied.
