DIVISION II SUB-STATE TEAM INFORMATION

  1. In Class A, the top five teams from the West Region and the top three teams from the East/Middle Region shall be eligible to enter the state tournament. The sub-state round of the State Tournament shall be as follows:

    Site 1: #4 West @ #1 East/Middle
    Site 2: #3 East/Middle @ #2 West
    Site 3: #3 West @ #2 East/Middle
    Site 4: #5 West @ #1 West

    In Class AA, the top five teams from the East/Middle Region and the top three teams from the West Region shall be eligible to enter the state tournament. The sub-state round of the State Tournament shall be as follows:

    Site 1: #5 East/Middle @ #1 East/Middle
    Site 2: #3 East/Middle @ #2 West
    Site 3: #3 West @ #2 East/Middle
    Site 4: #4 East/Middle @ #1 West

    The Executive Director has the authority to select another site if the host's facilities are not adequate to host the game. In order to be considered as a sub-state site, the facility must meet the following seating criteria: Class A - 1,000; Class AA - 1,250. These are to be permanent seats and based on 18" width.
  2. The girls' sub-state game shall be Friday, February 22, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. local time. The boys' sub-state game shall be Saturday, February 23, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. local time.
  3. Tickets and Passes:
  1. All tickets are general admission and are $6.00 each.
  2. The visiting team shall have the opportunity to receive 50% of the tickets. Money or unsold tickets must be returned to the host school no later than 5:00 p.m. the day of the game.
  3. The new 2007-08 Championship Event Card will provide complimentary admittance for the sub-state basketball games. Each member school received two event cards. This card admits ONLY ONE PERSON PER CARD and replaces the use of the TSSAA Directory for school's complimentary admittance. This is the ONLY acceptable card/pass for complimentary admittance to the sub-state basketball games.
  4. Each team will be allotted 25 tickets for admitting players, managers, coaches and other school officials.

  1. Sixteen cheerleaders in uniform and one mascot will be admitted at no charge at the players' pass gate.  Only 12 cheerleaders and one mascot may cheer on the floor. The cheer coach should have a ticket, either provided from the 25 pass tickets of the official team party.
  2. After all expenses have been paid, the teams that travel shall receive $1 per mile, round trip.
  3. Officials shall be assigned by the state office. The officials assigned to your sub-state game shall come from an association that does not service either school unless both schools use the same association. You will receive confirmation of assignment from the officiating crew assigned to work your sub-state game.
  4. The host school will wear light colored jerseys and shall be designated the home team on the scoreboard. (This applies regardless of the site of the game.)
  5. There shall be no practice at the game site. (Exception to this would be if a team uses the game site as its regular practice site.)
  6. Video taping of any high school is permitted as long as the taping or filming is for private use and not for public use. Video taping or filming must be done from the individual's seat. Individuals will not be allowed to stand or use tripods. A school will not be allowed to tape or film a game unless its team is involved in the game. All taping or filming must be approved by the Game Director.
  7. Permission to telecast live any sub-state game must be approved by the TSSAA Board of Control. Permission to tape a sub-state game for replay the next day may be granted by the Game Director provided the Game Director has space to accommodate the TV or Cable Station. Before taping is allowed, the station must pay the Game Director a fee of $200.00 which will be considered as part of the game receipts.
