1. Took no action on the proposal to make an exception to the
independent game participation rule (Article II, Section 10) in soccer and
girls’ soccer.
2. Took no action on the proposal to eliminate off-season
practice in football and basketball (Article III, Section 13).
3. Took no action to permit 15 days practice in the fall in
baseball and girls’ softball (Article III, Section 13).
4. Heard the report from the home school study committee.
5. In regard to the dead period, confirmed that the dead period
will remain as presently stated and will be held the week prior to the 4th
of July and the week of the 4th of July (June 24 – July 7).
6. Beginning the 2001-2002 school year, changed the sports
calendar so fall sports may begin practice on the Monday of the week of August
1; winter sports may begin practice on the Monday of the week of November 1;
and spring sports may begin practice on the Monday of the week of February 15.
7. Amended the sports calendar to state that a school must have
three days of practice before there can be practice or work with another
school. This shall apply to all sports.
8. Changed the sports calendar in volleyball to the following:
The maximum number of matches a team can play in a regular
season is 45. The limit of invitational
tournaments a team can compete in is four with each tournament counting as five
matches.
9. Also changed the sports calendar requiring
that middle schools must have three
days of practice before there can be
practice or work with another school.
This shall
apply to all sports.
9. Heard a report from Barbara Daush of St. Agnes Academy and
the Division II committee on a Division II update after four years.
