Baylor's Beth Felts Wins Second State Title
Baylor Wins Ninth Consecutive Team Championship

WINCHESTER - - - Beth Felts of Baylor School shot a 141 (68-73) at the Bear Trace Golf Course at Tims Ford State Park to win her second state championship in three years. The senior golfer's first day score of 68 is tied for the second best 18-hole individual score in state tournament history. Her two day total of 141 is tied for the fourth lowest 36-hole individual score in state tournament history.

Felts combined with teammate Catherine Hicks, who finished with a two-day total of 154 (74-80) and tied for fourth, to give Baylor a team score of 295 and their ninth consecutive state team title. Their nine consecutive titles is the most consecutive titles won by a team in any sport. Baylor's team score is the third lowest 36-hole team score in state tournament history.

This is the sixth time that both the Baylor boys and girls golf teams have won state titles in the same year. They have a combined 19 titles between them.

St. Cecilia's Ashleigh Garman shot a 70 on day two to finish runner-up and just five strokes behind Felts for the championship. University School of Nashville's Calle Nielson finished the tournament in third with a 149 (77-72). She combined with teammate Sydney Bell, who shot a 160 (87-73), to give University School of Nashville their first ever team runner-up finish. Bell finished tied for sixth place with Baylor's Brooke Pancake.

Taylor Bunnell of St. Benedict finished tied with Baylor's Catherine Hicks for fourth with a score of 154.

Baylor's Seth Brandon Wins State Championship and Sets New 36-Hole Record;
Baylor Wins Tenth Team Championship

WINCHESTER - - - It was another record first day for Baylor's Seth Brandon. The senior golfer, who shot a 63 (30-33) yesterday to tie the state tournament record for best 18-hole individual score, complemented that with a 67 during the final day of competition for a new state tournament record with a 36-hole individual score of 130. The previous record of 132 was held by former Baylor golfer Richard Spangler, who shot a 132 in 1995.

Brandon combined with teammates Harris English, John Barnett, Matt Cunningham, and Chris Farnsworth to give Baylor a 36-hole team score of 565 and their tenth state golf championship. Their team score set a new state tournament record for lowest 36-hole team score. The previous record of 573 was set by Baylor in 1995.

This is the sixth time that both the Baylor boys and girls golf teams have won state titles in the same year. They have a combined 19 titles between them.

Scott Tashie of Memphis University School finished with a 137 (68-69) to finish runner-up and seven strokes behind Baylor's Seth Brandon. Tashie helped lead MUS to the team runner-up title. They finished with a team score of 580, which is tied for the third lowest 36-hole team score in state tournament history. Knoxville Webb finished one stroke behind them with a team score of 581.

Logan Young of Briarcrest finished in third with a 139. Baylor's Harris English and Bobby Hudson of MUS both finished tied for fourth with a 36-hole score of 140.
