Seymour's Jennifer Davis Wins A-AA Title By Two Strokes;
Christian Academy of Knoxville Wins Team Title

CHAPEL HILL - - - After finishing runner-up at last year's tournament, Jennifer Davis of Seymour High School won the A-AA state golf championship by two strokes on a very windy day at Henry Horton State Park. Davis, a sophomore, took a one-stroke lead into the final day of competition over Grace Holmes of Lexington. Davis shot an 80 on the final day to give her a two-day total of 154.

Grace Holmes finished with a final score 156 (75-81) to tie her with Audra Williams of Harpeth for runner-up honors. Williams shot a 78 on both days. David Lipscomb's Elizabeth Dotson, last year's champion, finished with a two-day total of 163 (81-82) to give her a fourth place finish. Rachel Ingram from the University School of Johnson City shot a 77, ten strokes better than her first day score of 87, to give her fifth place with a final total of 164. Jamey Dillard of Davidson Academy finished with a 166 (79-87).

In team competition, Christian Academy of Knoxville won the state title by 16 strokes with a final score of 347. They were led by Anna Claire Daniels who shot a 165 (84-81). She combined with freshman teammate Mary Orr, who shot a 182 (90-92).

Upperman, who trailed CAK by eight strokes going into today, finished with a two-day total of 363 to claim runners-up honors. Amanda Austin shot a 181 (90-91) to combine with teammate Kayla Stewart's 182 (90-92) to give Upperman the second place finish.

Goodpasture Wins A-AA Golf Championship
Hume-Fogg's Jerry Maynor Wins Individual Title

CHAPEL HILL - - - Jerry Maynor of Hume-Fogg shot a 147 (73-74) to win the A-AA state golf championship at Henry Horton State Park. Three players, Jim Youngblood of Portland, Brandon Burris of Goodpasture, and Matt Mincer from Christian Academy of Knoxville all finished with scores of 149, just two strokes behind Maynor to tie for second place.

Wade Harrell of Lenoir City and Chad Grubb of Carter each finished with a total of 150 to tie for fifth place.

Goodpasture, led by Brandon Burris' 149 (74-75), finished with a team score of 623 to win the A-AA state golf title over Lenoir City by eight strokes. Reise Kelly also added a two-day score of 155 (78-77) to help Goodpasture capture the title after finishing runner-up at last year's tournament.

Lenoir City was led by Wade Harrell's score of 150 (75-75). University School of Jackson finished with a 636 for third place. They were led by Brendon McMahon's two-day total of 158 (79-79). Boyd-Buchanan, led by Taylor Lewis, finished just one stroke behind Boyd-Buchanan for fourth place. Davidson Academy finished in fifth place with a team score of 639.
